Moving

This section is for you if you are moving into or out of a rental apartment provided by Espoo Asunnot. Here you can find information related to moving, such as key collection and move-in inspection, as well as information about cancelling your lease agreement and cleaning your apartment when you move out.

How to ensure a smooth move to your new home

We hope you will enjoy living in your new home. There are many of things to take care of when moving – be sure to remember at least the following.

1. Submit a move notification

Submit the move notification on the maintenance company’s website. Your name(s) will then be added to the door of the apartment, any mailbox and the list of residents in the stairwell.

Remember also to submit a move notification to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency and the Finnish postal service Posti before your move. This will ensure that your contact information is updated for the authorities and that you receive your mail at your new home.

The notification is also important because the maintenance company may need to verify that you have the right to access the apartment. This may be necessary, for example, if you forget or lose your key and the door needs to be opened.

2. Collect the keys on the start date of the lease after 12:00 p.m.

You can collect the apartment keys, parking space keys, and the parking permit at the earliest at 12:00 on the first day of your lease agreement. You can find the contact information for collecting the keys on the first page of your electronic lease agreement.

3. Register for the residents’ online service EAsy

You will be able to register and log in to EAsy from the first day of your tenancy.

The service allows you to manage housing-related matters when it suits you best.

For example, you can check your rent payment status, update your contact details, submit and track a fault report and read current news about your building.

Important things to remember when moving out

We hope you have enjoyed living in your home. Before moving out, it’s a good idea to make sure everything related to your move is in order. Here are the most important things to remember.

1. Terminate the lease on time

Terminate the lease agreement in writing. Terminate your lease as soon as your moving date is confirmed.

Notice period

The notice period is one (1) calendar month. This means that you will still be invoiced for the month following the termination date.

Options for terminating the lease agreement

  1. electronically using an online form, or
  2. a printable form

For more information on how to terminate your lease, see the page Moving out.

2. Clean the apartment, yard, balcony, and storage spaces belonging to the apartment

Before you move out, clean the apartment and storage spaces. If the apartment has a balcony or yard, these must also be cleaned before you move out. If you have not cleaned the apartment or if the cleaning is insufficient, we will charge you for the cleaning costs. You can find the price list on the page Division of responsibilities.

You will receive instructions for cleaning in a written confirmation of termination, which we will send you after we have received and processed your notice of termination. You can also find cleaning instructions in the section Moving out.

3. Return your keys, parking permit and laundry room key tag

You must return all the keys handed over to you to the locksmith responsible for key management by 12:00 p.m. on the moving day. Your moving day is the day your lease agreement ends.

In addition to the apartment keys, you may have been given a master key, a parking space heating pole key, a parking permit, and a laundry room key tag - all of which must be returned.

If you do not return all the keys, the locks will be rekeyed, and you will be charged for the costs.

Do not leave the keys in the apartment or hand them directly to the next tenant. Keys must not be sent by mail either.

Please note: If the lease ends on a weekend (Saturday–Sunday) or a public holiday, the moving day is postponed to the next working day.
