Safe use of the apartment sauna

Safe use of sauna requires that fire safety is ensured in every situation.

As a tenant you are responsible for the fire safety of the apartment sauna, and you can ensure it by using the sauna correctly. The sauna must not be used for storing things that do not belong there. The sauna is intended for sauna bathing, not for storage or laundry drying.

You must take into account the following if there is a sauna in your apartment:

  • Do not dry your laundry in the sauna even when the sauna stove is off.
  • When heating the sauna, ensure that there is nothing flammable in the sauna or on the benches.
  • After you finish sauna bathing, switch off the stove from its control panel.
  • If you notice anything wrong with the sauna stove, please report the fault to the maintenance company. Do not use a faulty stove.

If the sauna stove is switched on accidentally, any materials not belonging to the sauna may be set on fire. If you wish, you can switch off the fuse for the sauna stove in the apartment’s fuse box, so the stove cannot heat up accidentally. The sauna must not be used for other purposes even if the fuse has been switched off.

The sauna is intended for sauna bathing, not for storage or laundry drying.

Only a working smoke detector can save you

Smoke detectors are mandatory equipment in all our apartments. In our newer and renovated apartments, the smoke detector is connected to the electricity supply. Older apartments must have a battery-powered smoke detector. If you notice that the apartment does not have a smoke detector when you move in, please notify the maintenance company.

As a resident, it is your duty to keep the smoke detector in working order. You are also responsible for changing the batteries. You can test the operation of the smoke detector by pressing its test button. You should test that your smoke detector is working once a month and whenever you have been away from home for a long time.
